Grey Dove oyster mushroom or scientific name Pleurotus ostreatus is one of the most known gourmet wild mushroom and gained in the last decades a well known notoriety for its many general health maintenance properties, cholesterol lowering activity and delicious taste, being regarded as a natural “meat replacement” in the modern vegan cuisine.

There is a wide array of Oyster mushroom types cultivated for their high efficiency and good reliability and these are like coded by colour from pearls, pinks and yellow oysters of warmer climate to more darker colours of blues, browns and greys as more cooler template lovers. Grey Dove oyster mushroom or pleurotus ostreatus, is a common edible mushroom. It was first cultivated in Germany as a subsistence measure during World War I and is now grown commercially around the world for it’s fine gourmet qualities and multiple applications as alternative medicine, wellness.

Growing mushrooms for the first time could be a bit of a challenge, but choosing Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) for your first cultivation is the best first step you can take towards the mushroom cultivation because it only needs little attention once initiated fruiting and will grow in many harsh conditions, being a very easy to grow species would withstand missing a watering or two and a wider temperature range.
